Returning BOTB books!  Procedure!

This month's Character Counts theme is trustworthy.

What does it mean to be trustworthy?  What makes a person trustworthy?

Sing-a-long for this Friday's assembly:
Dog goes woof Cat goes meow
Bird goes tweet and mouse goes squeek
Cow goes moo Frog goes croak
and the elephant goes toot
Ducks say quack and fish go blub
and the seal goes ow ow ow ow ow
But there's one sound That no one knows

What does the fox say?
Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!

What the fox say?
Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow!
Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow!
Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow!

What the fox say?
Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho!
Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho!

What the fox say?
Joff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo-tchoff!
Tchoff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo-tchoff!
Joff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo-tchoff!
What the fox say?

Big blue eyes Pointy nose
Chasing mice and digging holes
Tiny paws Up the hill
Suddenly you're standing still
Your fur is red So beautiful
Like an angel in disguise
But if you meet a friendly horse
Will you communicate by
mo-o-o-o-orse? mo-o-o-o-orse? mo-o-o-o-orse?
How will you speak to that
ho-o-o-o-orse? ho-o-o-o-orse? ho-o-o-o-orse?

10-10-2013 Opposite Angles

I will be out tomorrow and you will have a substitute teacher.  Be good!

Fold a line on your patty paper.
Unfold.
Fold a second line INTERSECTING (crossing) the first line.

With your pencil, label the angles 1,2,3,4 as shown above.

Angle 1 and 3 are opposite angles.  They are also called vertical angles.

Which other two angles are vertical angles on your patty paper?

What do you notice about vertical angles?

10-9-2013 Patty Paper Geometry!

Yesterday we found out that a perpendicular line is the shortest distance from a point to a line.

Do you remember the name of the angle that a perpenticular line makes?  What symbol do we use to show this angle?

Tell your neighbor!

Can you find other examples of perpendicular lines in the classroom?  Be ready to share!

Bonus question, how many perpendicular lines are in a square?
How can we name those angles?
